David Alan Arnold
6-Time Emmy Award Winner. Helicopter Cameraman. Author.
Born to Fly
One of David's earliest childhood memories is a surreal experience of floating up from his crib and flying out a window. It must have been a dream — but some dreams have a way of coming true.
After high school, David started sweeping the floor at a camera company. That humble beginning led to a dream job as a Helicopter Cameraman, and he never looked back. Today he flies around the world for the biggest events in television — the World Cup, Monday Night Football, UFC, and the World Series.
The Television Academy has honored David 13 times, including 6 Emmy Awards for his work on Deadliest Catch and the Super Bowl. But the stories that never made it to air — the near-death moments, the miracles, the decisions made at altitude — those became his books.
If what you're doing scares you, you're doing it right.
